Thanksgiving

This time of year, we should be give thanks.  Since this is a car blog, I will spare you with the sappy stuff and I tell what this Motor Gnome is thankful for.

I am thankful that somebody decided that we needed to build a useless train to the top of the mountain to eat donuts.

A Walk Across the Mississippi River

I have been wanting to walk acoss the Missisippi River  since I learned about the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge.  We went on a beautiful Friday this summer.  Here is some history of the Chain of Rocks Bridge.  http://www.rollanet.org/~conorw/cwome/article4.htm

Miata Car Clubs.

Photobucket
I took this picture last weekend at the pumkin patch. I don’t think you can carry very many pumpkins home in a Miata, but it was a beautiful day for riding with the top down.  I have ran into a couple of diffrent Miata Clubs.  They are a great fun loving bunch.  If I owned one, I would have to find a club and enjoy driving with the top down.

I love a club that wants to drive and enjoy cars.

Last Corvair Meeting.

You don’t normally see this many Corvairs in the same driveway running.

My new parts car.

I am working on restoring my wife’s 65 Corvair Coupe.  The car had on 25,000 miles, but the car was torn down to it bones.  I need a bunch of parts and end up buying this parts car.

I am not sure what the bucket seats came out of.  I kind of like them.

A Corsa dash is worth about a 1/4 of the price I paid for the car.

Not sure what to make of the motor. Looks like it have been overhauled, but it is missing a few parts.Photobucket

This car had been somebody’s pride and joy.  It kind of sad to take a part a car, but this thing is a rust bucket.Photobucket

Church of the Motor Head

Old Ford Dealership is going to be dealing in souls soon.  I drive by the old Ford dealership about once a month and found a sold sign.  A long with sold sign was a future home of the United Methodist. It will be interesting to see if they tear down the building or revamp it in to a church.

Yes, I would an oil change with my Sunday Service.

Citroen Tubik reminds me of something.

The picture above is a Citroën Tubik Concept Van Thingy.  You can read more about it here : Wired

Every time I see this Concept, I keep thinking of the old GM Futurliner. Wikipedia

Do you see what I am talking about?

How to add twenty horses to anything!

What have you added 20 more horses too?  Most readers of this blog have ordered their share of parts off of the web.  Jegs, and Summit loves to send stickers with each order.  Unless you a drag racer or a 16 year old gear head, you normally don’t put them on your car.  I am not saying there is anything wrong with putting stickers on your car, but I just don’t see it done much.

The question is what do you do with them?  You just can’t throw them away!  I have to find spots for all of them.  I will share a few of the spots here.

Clearly the jacks below can now hold an extra ton than their rating. These stickers are amazing for increasing strength.

My welder can now weld metal that is an inch and half thick.

Photobucket

My makeshift fan will now blow away a building.

Just by adding a few stickers this ladder is now an eight foot instead of six footer.

Photobucket

My Roomba can now finish it vacuuming in half the time.  The sticker is almost like putting a supercharger on it. (This is my basement Roomba.  I would never get away with putting a sticker on the one upstairs.)

****You results may vary.  Don’t ever overload jack stands.  Don’t put your hand in a fan, or try to climb a six foot ladder to eight foot.  ****

Hit me up on twitter and let me know what you put your stickers on.   http://twitter.com/#!/motorgnomes1
